What the Theatre Means to me – Rita Wertlieb

My love for the theater began when I was in high school. I loved working on and acting in the plays we put on. I loved taking a drama class from the head of our English department. I loved listening to the music of Broadway plays during that time & still do! To my mind, it was always a great accomplishment for us to put on a quality show that would bring accolades & joy to everyone who came to see it. Though I’m not currently acting or performing in any way, just being part of a team that presents such meaningful and quality productions is very fulfilling. Watching The Peace Mountain Theatre Company grow from putting on productions in a synagogue to now becoming a resident theater group in a real theater in Bethesda, is such a major accomplishment, that brings a great deal of satisfaction to everyone on our Board. We have grown by leaps and bounds thanks to the guidance of our President, Hal Freed, and the professional direction, production & expertise of Laurie Freed. I look forward to continuing the journey with the dedicated members of the Peace Mountain Theatre Board of Directors.
