To the New Girl, originally published in 2013, has also been adapted into a feature film that premiered in February 2020 at the iconic Chinese Theater in Los Angeles as part of the Golden Gate Film Festival. The show is made up entirely of monologues, its unique concept featuring women giving advice on the proper care and feeding of their former partners to the new significant others. The women are strong characters from all walks of life whose emotions range from anger through to pain and sorrow.
Samantha Macher is an award-winning playwright and filmmaker based in Washington, DC. Since beginning her career in 2011, she has had over 70 productions of her written work both in the United States and abroad. Her play Reset was a semi-finalist for the Princess Grace Playwriting Award (2015) and her play War Bride was the winner of the StageScene LA Play of the Year (2012). Samantha is also a theater educator, and was a Visiting Professor in the Hollins MFA Playwriting Program and also the Keenan Lecturer for the UVA Drama Department in 2016. Samantha is a proud graduate of the University of Virginia, and the Playwrights Lab at Hollins University.
