For our May 2020 show, PMTC drives to downtown Bethesda, where we’ll stage Driving Miss Daisy at our new home, The Writer’s Center. The Center is a hub for literary arts, events and creative collaboration, and houses a wonderful intimate theater with a full stage and raised seating for nearly 200 people.
Come and experience it as you enjoy Driving Miss Daisy, the marvelous comedy/drama written by Alfred Uhry in 1987. This play won the 1988 Pulitzer Prize for drama and the Outer Circle Critics award for Best Off-Broadway Play. Set in Atlanta in 1948, it’s the story of the evolving relationship between an elderly (and feisty) Jewish widow and the dignified black man who becomes her driver. The Washington Post wrote that the play "poignantly explores the transformative power of true friendship.”
