Pulitzer Prize play set in Atlanta in 1948. It is the story of the evolving relationship between an elderly (and feisty) Jewish widow and the dignified black man who becomes her driver. Over the momentous quarter-century from 1948 to 1973, we see how their rigid, professional relationship ripens into respect and tenderness.
